Barnton Bunker is thrilled to announce the addition of their new, long term residents.

Barnton Bunker is thrilled to announce the arrival of two charming and slightly unconventional residents!

On the evening of October 29, 2023, our site welcomed two special volunteers – not your typical kind, though. Meet Fruckles and Mimlez, the newest additions to the Barnton Bunker family!

These delightful residents are cashmere goats, known for their stunning coats that produce exceptionally soft wool. We've created a cosy cabin just for them, equipped with everything they need to feel right at home. By day, they roam freely across the bunker site, and by night, they snuggle up in their warm cabin.

The volunteers couldn't wait to meet Fruckles and Mimlez, and the goats have quickly become the beloved mascots of the bunker. From brushing and feeding to creating personalised playlists, everyone is eager to shower them with care, adding a lively and joyful atmosphere to the place!

Introducing goats to the bunker site was a thoughtful decision for multiple reasons. Beyond their adorable presence, they offer a natural and effective way to maintain the land, keeping vegetation in check without worry. As these cashmere goats freely munch on brambles and weeds, it's a win-win situation. Additionally, their cashmere wool is a valuable resource, obtained ethically as they naturally shed their unwanted fleece. Moreover, Fruckles and Mimlez, with their endearing antics, provide delightful companionship as we continue to restore the bunker.

Rest assured, we've adopted these charming creatures with utmost care and commitment. Stay tuned for more updates on the adventures of Fruckles and Mimlez at Barnton Bunker!
